Powerful Positive Affirmations

Use these powerful and positive affirmations every day to improve your self confidence and harness your potential.

Positive affirmations are easy to use and can make a big difference in how you live your life.  They are usually short phrases or sentences that help return focus to the present moment and stop the negative self talk.  If you would like to know more about affirmations, check out What is an Affirmation?  And if you’re not sure how to use these power statements, I suggest How to Use an Affirmation?

Here are a few of my favorite positive affirmations that I use all the time.

I honor my spirit.

Short affirmations are usually my favorite. Not only are the simple and straightforward but they usually have a nice flow. This short affirmation packs a serious punch. By using the verb honor, we are showing respect and admiration to ourselves. And by calling out our spirit specifically we can apply that appreciation to ourselves.

Your spirit is that version of you that resides deep within yourself. It is what propels you and drives your intentions and interactions. It is imperative to cultivate your spirit, love and care for it so that your spirit can grow and become stronger. Simple phrases like this can call your attention back to that magical place deep within you where your power resides. Strengthen your spirit and watch yourself bloom.

I sacrifice who I am for who I can become.

I know this one is a little dark at first, but when you consider this affirmations intention, the beauty is apparent. We are like the phoenix, constantly shedding our current self, for a greater one. You are not the same person you were ten years ago, and you will not be the same person you are now, in ten years. Humans are drastically affected by the events in their lives, the choices they make, and the people they associate themselves with, for better or for worse.

Remember that you are a constantly evolving being, ever striving for greater heights. Things you do now are the stepping stone to who you want to be. And shedding this reality and personality to become that which you seek is a sacrifice that is absolutely worth it.

I choose to enjoy the present moment.

It may seem obvious, but taking a step back and actively choosing to enjoy yourself moment to moment is so important. We live in the present, literally moment to moment. We spend much of our time thinking, either in the past or the future. And we devote very little mind space to our current reality and the present moment. Research has shown that living in the moment and being more “mindful” will increase happiness, satisfaction, health, reduce depression and anxiety, and support your overall wellness.

Even when we are faced with a challenge in our current moment, or even sadness, we still have the choice to be present and live in the moment. Sometimes, embracing those tough times, or times when we want to retreat, is the one thing that will solve our problem.

I release expectations to make space for greater blessings.

Once again, we are using affirmations to remind our self that what we think we want, or should be, may not be the right path for us. A lot of times we become ideologues and desperately hold onto visions of what we want our life to be. And unfortunately a lot of times, we can let these ideas blind us from other even greater possibilities, even better options that line up with our true spirit.

It is so important to put goals and expectations in perspective. We can only make these intentions based on the person we are now with the knowledge we have now. But as we grow those end points will most likely shift and re-calibrate as we become more aligned with our true selves. Use this affirmation any time those doubts start to creep back in. Not reaching your goal may be a good thing, changing your trajectory and aims could be the answer you have been looking for.

I am brimming with energy and full of life.

I love this affirmation, and whenever I feel low, burnt out, or overworked I repeat this to myself until all that negative energy is cleared out of my mind. Affirmations work by taking up the space that those negative thoughts usually inhabit. And this affirmation works great at crowding those dark ideas out and replacing them with great imagery and intention.

A lot of our disposition and emotions are choice. We end up being pulled around by these temporary feelings and thoughts, without realizing that they are having a huge affect on the rest of our day. Instead remind yourself that you have the energy within you, it is there waiting to be tapped into. And you are full of life, even if you are momentarily tired. Living life is a choice and reminding yourself to make that choice is a great idea.

I trust my intuition in every situation.

From childhood we are trained to ignore our intuition. Women especially have very strong and very accurate intuition. Your natural intuition is like a muscle and the more you use it, the better it becomes. But when you’re a kid, parents, teachers, and adults kept telling you to ignore it. You have to look at the facts, and the facts only. You can only see what is in front of you, what can be seen and measured.

But that is not the whole picture. There is so much to this world that we don’t know, especially when it comes to energy transfer and intuition. Instead of ignoring that gut feeling, lean into it. Embrace it and feed those natural instincts. Start listening to how words and people make you feel, what is your first reaction, and what is your deeper, higher self trying to tell you. Our subconscious doesn’t use language or words like we do. Instead it speaks with emotions, and those gut reactions are it telling you something important. Learn to listen to your subconscious’s wordless language.

I trust that I am on the right path.

So much of our time is wasted trying to force our way into things or places that are not meant for us. The life you push yourself towards may not be the right path for you. We work so hard to become the ideals and expectations in our minds. But a lot of times, those ideas are put in there by others, and may not truly reflect our deepest wants and desires.

By releasing those expectations we are able to see all of the options presented to us, and all of the paths that we may take. When you aren’t clouded with pretense, you may find something that more truly aligns with your soul. Use this affirmation to let go of your expectations of where you should be, and embrace your trust in the universe. You will feel an amazing sense of relief and peace when you realize, no matter where you are, you are on the right path.

I always speak my truth.

I created this one a few years back, and still need this reminder almost every day. I am a people-pleaser at heart. I nurture, I care, and I want to make sure others are supported, even at the expense of my own self. This is something I have to actively work against. This affirmation reinforces that thought.

Speaking your truth, and saying what you need can be hard, especially for women. It can be hard in challenging situations, it can be hard in relationships, and it can be hard when you know your truth conflicts with someone you loves’ truth. But your truth is worth more than anything, and you being able to speak your truth in every situation is the only way to make it through fully intact.
